Student Learning Project: Create a Mock Lesson Plan

Directions: Create a lesson plan for one of your grade levels that includes differentiation for a special needs learner. Be sure to include any adaptations you will make to ensure their success in mastering the standard. As part of the lesson plan, please note what technology you would use, and what NETS standard would you address. If you are completing this module as part of a team, your team may work together to create the lesson plan.
Consider the Professional Development Module Guiding Questions:
1. What information do I need to know about specific special needs populations?
2. Am I aware of when to use modifications or accommodations, and which to implement?
3. How do I understand the needs of my special ed student, and design a lesson that includes goals and objectives for that students that allows for mastery of the specific music standard, as well as incorporates a personal goal that is in the IEP?
4. What types of instruments can be used with special needs students, and how to get them?
5. What is a student centered classroom? Are there new advances in technology, including iPads, that can be used in the music room with special needs students?
6. How do I create a successful situation using a paraprofessional to best meet the needs of the special education students in the general music classroom?
